Students who got into Northeastern:

Tips mention: Interview (3), ACT/SAT (22), Grades (20), Sports/Extracurriculars (14), College Essay (11)
This year Northeastern received 6500 EA apps out ofJan 26 2006Unknown
This year Northeastern received 6500 EA apps out of a total of 26,000 applicants. There are only 2800 available seats, so getting in is getting to be super competitive. My advice is to get your application in as early as possible and be sure to express a strong interest in the school.
SAT: 1360 Female
Lots of extra-curricullar activitiesAug 07 2005Computer Engineering
Lots of extra-curricullar activities. My HS record suckd to a point. But my SAT scores were kickass and I had done quite some background work related to the major I wanted to take up.
SAT: 1450 Male
To get in, i was sent a "preferred admissionApr 26 2005Business - Management and Administration
To get in, i was sent a "preferred admission." Don't ask me why I got it - I don't know. But I filled it out and was accepted. No essays, no interview.

However, I have one high school friend at the university now who had to go through the whole application and essays and got in. I had another friend who applied with the normal application and got denied. I can't really offer advice because I didn't do the essays, but...

I KNOW THAT THE ADMISSIONS DEPT. wants to hear why the ideals of the school (i.e. co-op, hands-on learning, experiencial learning, and diversity) are matches with you!
SAT: 1210 Male

Just do well in high schoolMar 09 2005Unknown
just do well in high school... and do more than just classes
SAT: 1260 Male
At the time, my 2Sep 02 2003Political Science
At the time, my 2.90 high school avg and almost 1090 SAT's were more then enough for any of the liberal arts programs. Today, I am not sure that would cut it. My high school was one in located amoung all great Westchester County NY systems that produce some of the top high school students in the country. This helps know doubt. I also had been in a program for giveted students in Art, and was a top golfer in the state.
